Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgeons are trained in surgery involving the mouth, jaws, and face, including dental implants.

Following 4 years of dental schools, the route to become an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon involves 4-6 additional years of training in a hospital setting.  Rotations are completed in the medical specialties of anesthesia, internal medicine, intensive care, general surgery, trauma surgery, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.  Many surgeons will go on to complete Fellowships in Trauma, Orthognathic Surgery, or Cosmetic Surgery.

Periodontists have special interest in the supporting structures of teeth, including the gums and bone, and also dental implants.

Following 4 years of dental school, Periodontists complete 3 additional years of training, where they receive instruction in the biology and clinical management of periodontal diseases, bone grafting, and dental implants.

Endodontists deal with disease and pathology of the nerve and pulp of the tooth.

Following 4 years of dental school, Endodontists undergo 2-3 additional years of training where they receive instruction in conventional and surgical endodontics, microsurgery, pediatric endodontics, and the treatment of traumatic injuries to teeth.

Anesthesia can be provided for patients who are anxious, have significant cognitive or motor dysfunction which prevents treatment, are below the age of reason, or who require traumatic or extensive dental procedures.

The Doctors at Coronation Dental Specialty Group have various levels of training in the administration of anesthesia, and can provide a wide spectrum to patients.  In addition, Coronation Dental Specialty has a Medical Anesthesiologist on staff to assist in patient care.

The goal at Coronation Dental is to provide treatment for patients in a manner which is safe and comfortable for them.
