Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are dental specialists trained in surgery of the dentoalveolus and implants, jaws, face, and body.

Following 4 years of dental schools, the route to become an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon involves 4-6 additional years of training in a hospital setting.  Rotations are completed in the medical specialties of anesthesia, internal medicine, intensive care, general surgery, trauma surgery, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.  Many surgeons will go on to complete Fellowships in Trauma, Orthognathic Surgery, or Cosmetic Surgery.

Coronation Dental Specialty Group has 6 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons who serve local dentists, and also hold privileges at Cambridge Memorial, Woodstock General, Stratford General, and Alexander Marine General Hospitals.
